Summary


	Femtocells are low-power wireless access points that operate in licensed spectrum to connect standard mobile devices to a mobile operator’s network using residential DSL or cable broadband connections. Informa expected in late December 2010 that, after two-year market warm-up, All the signs indicate femtocells are set to have a strong 2011.

	Femto Forum global survey “Chinese consumer attitudes to femtocells” lasted a year, and the latest and authoritative progress will be released.

	With the maturity and penetration of Chinese 3G, diversification of applications, popularization of smart terminals and promotion of three network convergence, network coverage issue has been resolved, and addressing explosive growth of data services and meeting network capacity demand will be the focus of operators in next stage. Femtocell provides an attractive alternative upgrading of existing network infrastructure and implementation of 4G.

	As of Q1 2011, there are 19 commercial services in 13 countries. Dozens of world-famous operators have launched WCDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE standard femtocell commercial / trial commercial services, such as Vodafone, Orange, AT&T, DoCoMo, BT, China Unicom and China Mobile

	China Unicom has launched “3G Inn” since Nov. 2009, while there are commercial pilots in Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Hubei and Liaoning. China Mobile has planned to deploy commercial TD-SCDMA femtocell in late 2011 while TD-LTE femtocell in 2012.

	This Symposium is the only official event by Femto Forum in China, and was first held in 2009. Femtocell grew rapidly in China.
